England are favourites here and I honestly don't see why. They've been wheezing through this bracket — down to Norway, needed 120 minutes, and their own manager called it lucky and sloppy. That's not a team you lay short odds on in a semifinal. Meanwhile the world champions are sitting there at three-to-one. Messi's fit, Alvarez just scored the goal of the tournament, and this group has won every knockout round that matters for three straight years. You don't get Argentina at that price in a World Cup semi very often.

B, that 3-1 against Switzerland you're waving around — Argentina played fifty minutes with an extra man after a joke of a red card. Take that away and they were level with the Swiss deep into the night. Both these teams went 120 minutes on the same Saturday. Nobody has fresh legs, nobody's blowing anyone away. A semifinal between two knackered teams that don't want to lose it in ninety? That's a draw screaming at you. I'll grant you England at 2.70 is the trap side — all the casual money is on Kane and Bellingham. But I'm not backing either of them outright.
The Quant11:25 AM
Model's modal score is England 1, Argentina 2. Both sides played 120 minutes Saturday so fatigue nets out; the separation is underlying performance — England have trailed in consecutive knockout games and needed a keeper-parry rebound to survive Norway, while Argentina's core numbers travel: my sim gives them 34% in ninety, England 36%, the rest draw. The board hasn't caught up. Unibet posts Argentina 3.20, England 2.65, Draw 2.90 — strip the vig across all three and the market puts Argentina at 30.2%. On a $10 stake: Argentina ML at 3.20 returns +$0.88 expected; Argentina +0.25 at 1.70 returns +$0.21; the Draw at 3.02 returns -$0.03. The moneyline is the optimal play. S is right that the 3-1 flattered them — but the market's already docked them for it, and then some.
